What is the difference between a board-certified specialist and a family veterinarian?
Board certified veterinary specialists complete extensive advanced training beyond veterinary school. This includes four years of undergraduate education, four years of veterinary school, a one-year internship, and an additional two to three year residency focused on a specific specialty area. Specialists must also complete original research and successfully pass a comprehensive national board examination. Once completed, they earn Diplomate status, a distinguished credential recognizing advanced expertise within their specialty field.
At Valley Central Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, our specialists are committed to delivering advanced, high quality veterinary medicine in a compassionate and supportive environment for both pets and their families.
